Taking on The Pembury Tavern

The Pembury Tavern is currently closed for refurbishment and will relaunch in September 2018. The legendary Hackney pub is now owned by The Five Points Brewing Company and will reopen as our taproom and brewpub in Autumn.

We are ecstatic to announce that this Spring, we will be taking over The Pembury Tavern. We couldn’t be more thrilled to be taking the reigns ar this legendary, landmark Hackney boozer. Originally built in the 1860s, the pub has been key in bringing good beer back to the area, featuring in the Good Pub Guide for years.

We’re going to take a sensitive and considered approach to putting our own ‘Five Point spin’ on The Pembury Tavern. It’s a great pub and we want it to stay that way. Pizza will remain on the menu, and the bar billiards and pool table will be staying put, too. We will keep on two beers from Cambridge’s Milton Brewery, the Pembury‘s owners for the past 12 years, for the upcoming 12 months on the bar.

But, we’ve also got some exciting plans. One is the installation of a pilot brew kit at The Pembury Tavern to try out new, small batch, experimental brews. We really can’t wait for the next chapter of this iconic and historic pub‘s life. The team at the Pembury Tavern will be headed up Pete Walker, the General Manager of our canalside craft beer bar, Mason & Company, in Hackney Wick.

We’ll keep you posted on developments as they come along. Come and visit us once we’re up and running.

The Pembury will be joining the Five Points Family, which includes our craft beer bar Mason & Company in Hackney Wick, and Whitelock’s Ale House and The Turk’s Head in Leeds.
